WELCOME

Welcome to our website.  We hope that it will encourage you to come along and worship with us.  Whatever your age or background, whatever your past experience, we want to welcome you to one of our warm and friendly churches.

  • Have you recently moved into the area?
  • Have you stopped going to church?
  • Are you searching for something more in your life?
  • Are you just curious to find out what Christianity is all about?

Why not come and worship with us?  We could be what you are looking for.

What is the United Reformed Church?

The URC is one of the newest of the free churches. It was formed from the Congregational and Presbyterian Churches and the Churches of Christ.  Although we are a small church, we are very open to developing new ideas and new ways of worship.  We are an inclusive church and we have members with a wide variety of approaches to Christianity.  We are also democratic – the Church Meeting of each church is the ultimate authority.

What is the Group?

The South Leicestershire Group of the URC was formed in 1986.  Until recently it consisted of six churches – three former  Congregational and three former Churches of Christ – but our Kilby church has now closed.  The Group works together as a family, sharing resources and ministry, but each church has its own individual identity. We rejoice that with God’s help we have journeyed together, learning more about each other, sharing in joint activities, supporting each other, and committing ourselves to continuing this journey under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Where can you find us?

Our churches are situated to the south of  the city of Leicester.  We serve the towns of Oadby, Wigston Magna, South Wigston, the Leicester suburbs of Saffron Lane and Eyres Monsell and the village of  Whetstone.  You can find out more about each church by visiting the Our Churches page.
